THE MAKING OF HARRY POTTER

August 30, 2014

I have been wanting to do this post for a long while, but wasn't sure when to post it as I've been doing a lot of lifestyle posts recently.

If you know me at all, you'll know that I LOVE HARRY POTTER so I wanted to share my love with my friend Victoria, and she herself ended up falling in love with it too (I hope) thus, we planned to go to the Warner Brothers Harry Potter studios in London as a little trip (big trip as we travelled from Wales!) during our summer holidays. So we booked the tickets a few weeks in advance and counted down the days...

Despite it getting off to a rocky start with an inconvenience, we ended up thoroughly enjoying our time there.

The studios are INCREDIBLE. If you've watched the films and really enjoyed them, you'll be blown away by how surreal it is. While entering the great hall you almost feel as if you're part of the films and experiencing the magic.

It was amazing to walk around seeing the real props, costumes and sets used in the films, it's hard for me to describe in words what it was like, SO here's a few photos...

The famous 'cupboard under the stairs'
THE GREAT HALL

The professors of Hogwarts

The wands

Dumbledore's office

NO CAPTION NEEDED.

It's incredible thinking that so much time went into masks or plant pots for small details in the film...

Me acting bizarre!

Diagon Alley

 This part I found incredible...

It's strange to think that Hogwarts went from this...

To this...

It was an amazing experience and I'd highly recommend it to any Harry Potter fan. I've only featured a few of the large amount of photos taken on the day, so I'd recommend you take a camera with space if you're going to be visiting!

The tour shows just how much work goes into making the films and lets you in on a lot of secrets. Sadly, I can't share those secrets with you...it's up to you to find out...

THOUGHTS THURSDAY - BACK TO SCHOOL

August 28, 2014

It's that time of the year already! Time to go back to the classroom. It can be an exciting time for some, but for the majority it's a dreaded time.
Today I wanted to try and make light of the situation for those of you who are feeling miserable at the thought of walking through the entrance at a time you'd normally be in bed.

I have decided to share with you a few of my tips for going back to school with a  positive mind.

1. Although school can bring you down; there are so many great things there. Some good people, food, an education etc.

2. At the start of a school year, you have a chance at making a change in your life. A new year gives you an opportunity for a fresh start. Make the changes in your life that'll make your life happier.

3. Education is a brilliant thing. It helps you to grow as a person. Make the most of it. Education can change so many things, knowledge is very powerful.

4. Everyone is in the same shoes. Your not the only one who has to say goodbye to the holidays and get back in to the routine. So do fellow students and all the staff.

5. Make something to look forward to after every school day. Perhaps your favourite television programme?

6. Embrace all the opportunities you're offered. It's hard sometimes, but you may end up benefiting.

7. Make a stand for yourself, if you're not happy by the way you're being treated by 'friends' say something. People shouldn't make your school days miserable.

8. Find someone you can speak to if things aren't looking as good in your life. This will help you feel safe and has helped me through the past year. This person can be someone you speak to about good things to. Make sure it's someone you really trust.

9. Tackle every piece of work as best as you can. You're not going to be the best at everything, but if you try your best that's the main thing. Mistakes are what you learn from.

10. Everyone has to go to school, so enjoy your time there as best as you can because it doesn't last forever. One day you'll have to go into the years and years of working.

There are some of my tips for you!
Have you got any?

Thanks for reading!

Take care,
Eve xx

BACK TO SCHOOL - D.I.Y Motivational notepad

August 27, 2014

So today I'm doing a surprise EXTRA post! I purchased an A4 WHsmith brand notepad (a lot cheaper than buying a pretty one with only half the amount of pages) the other day and was so bored by the cover so decided to do a REALLY easy d.i.y on it!

Here's the finished result...

Now, I'm going to show you lot how to do it too!

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED:

First things first, let's take a minute to say goodbye to the plain jane cover of this notepad. It doesn't really make me want to work to be honest! What makes me want to work? Motivation.

Here's what you have to do.

1. Grab your post it notes and a pen of your choice. On every post it note write something motivational for yourself that will keep you positive.

2. Next you start sticking your post it notes onto the paper. I've left a little gap between the edge of the book and the notes so that the holes are still visible...

Continue this step until your book is completely covered...

 3. In order to make sure that the post it notes will stay on the book, I'm going to take some sell tape, and begin sticking it down in little strips. You could also use sticky back plastic which will work just as good and will be quicker!
Remember withe sell tape to leave enough so that there will be excess tape on both ends. (see step 4)

Once you've done your first strip (see below photo) you'll continue until you reach the end of the cover.

4. With the excess tape, you're going to bend it so that it is sticks to the inside of the cover (you can do this after applying every strip or do all at the end)

After doing all those steps you're done! Remember you can do this d.i.y using magazine photos, personal photos etc. If you give this a go, let me know how you got on & send me a photo: @haiaeve on twitter or haiaeveconnect@gmail.com - I'd love to see!

As you can see here- I added my name!

Thanks for reading!

Beat the tangles

August 26, 2014

I don't know about you lot, but I've really struggled with the tangles in my hair and since having a new hair cut, I made the decision to make a change, thus picked up two MUST HAVE products to help reduce the tangles in your hair.

The first product is a detangling spray from L'OREAL KIDS. Yes, kids! I used to use this a lot when I was younger and it worked wonders on my hair! This product has a pear scent (it smells amazing!) and really helps me to reduce my tangles. It also helps to give my hair a bit more life and makes it feel brilliant.
This product: SWEET PEAR TANGLE TAMER (It's only £2.19!)
To go with this product (they work as a great duo) I picked up an original tangle teaser. Now, I've heard so many brilliant reviews about this product, so I thought it would be a perfect purchase. I picked up a pink and purple coloured one (I love these colours!) for the price of £10.99, which is a little pricey for a hairbrush, but I think, for the quality it is totally worth it!
Using this brush on my hair is a lot easier and is a lot less painful than using a normal brush to get those tangles out! The brush really does what it says, it easily and effectively removes those unwanted tangles!
For my tange teezer: ORIGINAL PLUM DELICIOUS
For a range of tangle teezers: TANGLE TEEZER (Boots)

My top tips for reducing your tangles:

  • Brush EVERY PART of your hair. I know this sounds bonkers, but I tend to avoid brushing the back of my hair very much, as it's hard to get to, and for this reason it can get very tangled, which means I avoid brushing it more because it hurts SO MUCH. If I brushed it in the first place and made more of an effort, I wouldn't have to deal with the problems of terrible tangles.
  • Brush your hair after washing it. If you leave it without brushing it out, it can get very tangled.
  • Brush your hair regularly (not every minute of the day) brush it after you wake up and before you go to bed, and obviously brush it before styling it!

There you go!

STYLE SUNDAY - BACK TO SCHOOL BAG!

August 24, 2014

Hey everyone!

It's my first STYLE SUNDAY today. Normally, I'd hope to be showing you clothes and OOTDs etc, but because (sadly) it's that time of the year (back to school) I've decided to show you my new school bag!

I bought the bag off Amazon : see here and almost cancelled it as it's delivery time would be too late.
Luckily, they agreed to send it out sooner which was great and it even arrived before the expected date! Bonus!

I really like the uniqueness of the bag.
I wanted a bag that gave off a positive vibe, was unique, would be easy to carry around, whilst also giving me enough space for all my books. I think this bag ticks all of those boxes.

The cat helping me take photos!
The bag came to £24.99 which is reasonable for what seems to be good quality.

I really look forward to taking this bag back to school with me, and will let you all know how it works out!

Something I just had to share with you was the plastic packaging the bag came in, more specifically the writing on that bag.
Now, I'm well aware that the bag is a Japanese design, but the English on the bag is appalling (but quite funny too!)
Here's a close up:

Thanks for reading!
Have a lovely week!

Take care,
Eve xx

The British (Welsh) tag!

August 20, 2014

Hey everyone!

Today I'm taking on the 'British tag', technically I wasn't personally tagged to do this, but I was having serious writers block, so decided to jump on the opportunity and turn a trending YouTube tag into a blog post.

I am British, but am not English. I am Welsh. Thus decided to call this the 'British (welsh)' tag! I will also be adding on questions that are more welsh. If you're Welsh be sure to do this TAG and answer all the questions, if not, you can do the tag by answering the questions written in black!

1. How many cups of tea do you have a day? + How many sugars?
I can drink up to six a day some days. No sugar.
2. Favourite part of your roast

7. Favourite Welsh programme?

8. Can you speak Welsh? If so, do you speak it regularly?
Yes I can. Yes, I do. I don't write my blog in Welsh because I know that the majority, if not all of my readership can't understand or speak Welsh.

The reason I added on the Welsh questions, is because I hold real pride over being Welsh, and I really feel it's important to present this on my blog so that you're all aware of it's importance to me.

Thanks for reading!
Have a fab day!
See you Friday with a new Fit4Friday!

Take care,
Eve xx
