Book review: Revenge wears Prada

March 29, 2014

Hello lovely people,

Happy one week anniversary to my blog! I hope you're enjoying it SO far! Here's to many more weeks!!
Today, I'm going to be writing a book review. I have no idea of how to write one, so I'm just going to give it a go & hope that I've (kind of) written a decent review.
Enjoy!
FACTFILE:
Title- 'revenge wears prada'
Author- Lauren Weisberger
Content- 5.5/10
Enjoyment- 7/10
Overall rating- 6/10

I never actually read the first book 'devil wears prada' I did instead watch the rather glorious film starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. I thoroughly enjoyed the film therefore, when I saw that the second book in the series was released last year (summer 2013) I decided to give it a go. I grabbed it off the shelf in Tesco (it was at a fantastic price) and added it to my reading list.

One of my hopes for the new year was to read more. I decided that 'revenge wears prada' would be my first book to read.

The book follows Andrea Sachs a decade after working at Runway. She is now best friends with her former enemy Emily who she co-owns bridal magazine 'The Plunge' with and is venturing into married life with Max Harrison.

But it isn't all rainbows and buttercups. Oh No! Of course, there has to be drama.
Andy will be reunited with the devil herself, Miranda Priestly.
And will experience huge betrayal.

Personally, I really enjoyed the book. I found it was a book that I could read and feel relaxed, and I wouldn't have to concentrate too much. Although I would personally recommend it to any devil wears prada fans, it has had mixed reviews.
Some say that they were terribly disappointed over the lack of Miranda & Some actually described the book as 'terrible' (Very harsh, and I'd disagree!)
The book isn't for everyone but, I really loved reading it! Let's hope for a sequel film!!

Have a great weekend! Take care! Xx

Fit4Friday: BODY IMAGE

March 28, 2014

WHAT IS YOUR IDEAL BODY IMAGE??

Do you want to be skinny? Maybe you want to have curves? Perhaps you'd like to look athletic? Maybe you wish you were taller? Or shorter?

Let's have a look at some body image statistics (taken from an American source):

81% of 10 year olds are afraid of being fat
More than half of teenage girls aren or think the should be, on diets- wanting to lose the 40 pounds that females naturally gain between ages 8-14
80% of women say that the images of women on television/movies/magazines/adverts makes them feel insecure
These statistics are mind-blowing!

How do you feel about yourself?
Are you too tall?
Too curvy?
Think that you're too slim or too wide?
Too short?

Is there anything you do like about your body? Think about it.

What is body image?
Body image is a person's inner conception of his/her own physical appearance. This conception may or may not be reality.

Society is giving girls and boys the message that in order to be 'pretty' or 'good-looking' you have to look a certain way. This largely involves looking like the PHOTOSHOPPED celebrity on the cover of a magazine.
This gives youngsters the message that in order to be accepted you must look a certain way or behave a certain way, making the person feel terribly low in confidence by feeling as if they're not good enough.
Quite honestly I think it's absolutely awful. Put down the magazine and start being realistic. You we're given a body a UNIQUE BODY. It's never going to be identical to others. Embrace yourself. Be healthy. Eat healthily. Stay fit. But stop PLEASE STOP getting sucked in to the loop of media pressure and appearance and judging yourself against the fake celebrity world. You are who you are. And you can't change that. Just be a BETTER version of YOU (if need be).

Thanks for reading.
Have a fabulous weekend guys.
Take care. xx

TeenTalkTuesday: Worries!

March 25, 2014

The first T.T.T!

Hello lovely people!!

Happy Tuesday to you all!
How is everyone? Hope you're all in tip top condition and your week so far is running okay.

QUICK INTRO TO TTT
On Tuesdays (dependent on whether I'm feeling inspirational) I'll be writing a little post on the 'teenage issues' or 'teenage topics'. This could include body image, being happy, school, friendships, relationships or WORRIES...

I put WORRIES in bold because that is in fact today's chosen topic. Worrying, Worrying, Worrying. It comes in so many different shapes and sizes. From worrying about the rational things to being completely over the top worried over something ridiculous. Everyone worries. Everyday. Over BIG things and over SMALL things.

Quote time:
"If a problem can be solved, there is nothing to worry about. If it can't be solved, then worrying is useless."

Think about it. Why do we worry so much?
For me, worrying is something that can often take over. I don't worry over all things, I'll just worry about one thing and it will bother me for a while. This is because by worrying I'm stopping myself from forgetting whatever it is I'm worrying about and proving to others that I do care. I will worry about school results- I like to do well and make others proud. I'll worry about people's opinions of me- especially those I'm close to, I never want to let them down.

But worrying is quite truly a waste of energy. Energy that could be used to making the situation better or positive.

Quote #2:
"Worry is a total waste of time. It doesn't change anything. All it does is steal your joy and keep you very busy doing nothing."

I'll leave it there today. Have a great week.
Take care. xx

RECYCLE COFFEE CUPS!

March 23, 2014

Hello everyone!

Today I've got a little treat for you! A treat that'll save you a bit of cash. I mean, don't get me wrong there are some amazingly cute storage containers out there but, they can be a little bit on the pricey side. I recently discovered an alternative which includes re-using your old take out coffee cups. Take out coffee (especially the brands) can also cost a lot but, by re-using the cups and still enjoying the coffee (or any hot/cold drink) that comes with it you're saving a small fortune. Think about it. Average storage container- £5 each. Coffee take out- £1-3. It adds up! Also, it gives you a chance to show off your creativity!

Let's go!

my beautiful coffee cup (I believe I had a cappuccino)
First and foremost, you must drink or dispose of the beverage.
You then want to clean it out (to remove any gunk) you can do this with a cloth or using cold water.
Then, go ahead and let it dry out (should take quarter of an hour- depends on how wet the cup is)

NEXT..
fill it with anything from makeup to stationary!!
I decided to fill it with random bits-and-bobs in my room.
 AND VOILA...

Good Luck! take care. xx

March 22, 2014

HI EVERYONE!

A warm welcome to my blog- 'hub4teens' . It is what it says on the tin or rather on the web address. This blog I have created for your enjoyment. I'm a fellow teenager myself and decided that I wanted to write posts (with my own photos) of things I feel that teenagers need to know or want to know. I will aim to write around one to three posts a week.

TALKTUESDAY: sharing advice or discussing teenage stuff.
FIT4FRIDAY: lifestyle: healthy living- food & fitness
WACKYWEEKEND: posts on random things from reviews to d.i.y's
{I will try and write at least one from each section every month}

I hope you're looking forward to our blogging adventure just as much as I am & feel free to follow- that would be rather excellent!

Thank you for reading my first EVER post for this blog!
See you (or rather write to you) next time!
Take care.
