PRODUCT EMPTIES - SCENTS!

September 29, 2014

I don't know about you lot, but I think you can tell a lot about a product by if it's been emptied. I thought it'd be appropriate to share my recent empties and perhaps guide you in whether or not to consider purchasing. (Products at end of post)

Impulse - I love impulse as they're so affordable and have some tasty scents, into glamour was no exception. The scent stayed on for a good amount of time and was a very warm scent!

L.A STYLE (Mary-Kate & Ashley) - LOVE THIS! I would never have thought to buy this in the past as I've never heard it mentioned before, but I'm glad I was given it! The smell is amazing, very fresh and does stay on for hours. Very affordable too!

Bombshell (Victoria's Secret) - Differently to the other, this I've heard about so much! This was gifted to me over a year back and I've finally finished it! I absolutely love the femininity of this scent and it's an essential to any girly-girl's collection!

Have you tried any of the above? What is your favourite scent?

Have a lovely week!

SORRY FOR MY SLACKING

September 27, 2014

Haia everyone!

I have to say SORRY for my recent lack of regular posting!

The reason for this is, I've been coming home after a very busy day at school and haven't had the energy to turn on the computer, think of what to write, research, write it, read over it and post it.

If you've been reading my blog for a little while, you'd know that in August I was posting every other day (which I loved doing), but I had a lot more time on my hands.

If you're unaware of my current posting schedule: CLICK HERE!
I'm going to try my best to keep to the schedule, although I cannot promise that I will always manage to.

Apologies everyone!

Thanks for reading and following!

Take care,

B is for banana

September 26, 2014

Welcome to the second instalment in my 'food alphabet' series!
I have to apologise for my lack of posting of late, all will be explained in tomorrow's post!

BANANAS!

Why should you eat them?

  • Bananas can help to overcome depression. This is because of it's high levels of tryptophan.
  • Eating bananas before a workout can pack you with energy and sustain your blood sugar levels.
  • Can help to protect you against muscle and leg cramps.
  • They can help improve your mood and reduce PMS symptoms.
  • Eating bananas can help prevent kidney cancer.
  • Bananas can build strong bones.
  • They can make you smarter and help make you more alert (aids learning!)

F4F #18 - FAFQ 2

September 19, 2014

Happy Friday darlings!

Today I thought I'd do another Frequently Asked Fitness Questions post as I haven't done one in a little while!

I googled some fitness (and healthy lifestyle) questions that are asked often and thought I'd personally answer them myself. Let us get on with it...

1. Does being healthy mean no bread?

No! Having carbs is important in your diet. Having too much of things, bread included is unhealthy. I always say it, but I'll say it again: EVERYTHING IN MODERATION!

2. Is stretching important?

VERY! You must, must, MUST stretch after (and before) exercising! It can be dangerous not to stretch. By stretching your reducing your chance of straining or injuring yourself.

3. What are the stages to any workout?

Warm up -> Start to bring the pulse up -> high impact -> Start to cool down -> cool down -> Stretches

4. How can I improve my flexibility?

Stretching is the key to improving your flexibility, but you have to be consistent (stretching every day)

5. How often should I exercise?

This all depends on your level of fitness. If you're a beginner don't go into it wild. Try starting with 30 minutes 2-4 times a week.

6. Is water important when exercising?

Water plays a big part in your exercise routine. It is important to hydrate before and after exercising, but also ensure that you try to take on small sips of water during exercise (sometimes I struggle to do this as I get cramps!)

There we go! If you have any questions with regards to health and fitness don't be afraid to ask them in the comments- I'll try my best to answer!

Have an amazing weekend!

What do YOU want to see on Haia Eve?

September 13, 2014

Hey everyone!

Today's a post where I ask (very kindly) for your help. I really want to know what posts you'd like to see more or less of on my blog.

I only post posts about things that I'd personally like to read or learn about as I believe that a blogger should enjoy their own content, but there's quite a few of you reading Haia Eve now so I want to have an idea of the type of posts you enjoy reading!

All I want you to do is leave me a quick comment on this post. THAT IS ALL. It would be a BIG help for me. And if you want, let me know what your favourite post/series I've done is!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Have an amazing weekend!

The food alphabet - A is for Avocado

September 12, 2014

Today marks the beginning of yet another Haia Eve series: The food alphabet. Basically, I decided that every Friday that I don't do a fitness post, I'll instead talk about a certain food. Today's avocado.

AVOCADO!!

The oil in an avocado is rich in in monounsaturated fat. This oil is helpful at lowering cholesterol levels.
The sodium, magnesium and potassium in this fruit are good at improving oxygen flow and lung volume.
Avocado can help lower your chances of developing cancer because of the high levels of lutein and carotenoids that can inhibit the development of cancerous cells.
Avocados can be used to treat osteoarthritis because of the content of the avocado's oil.
Avocado's are brilliant for keeping your hair and skin healthy. (They contain a high content of vitamin E!)
It may surprise you that avocado's are supposed to help with weight loss. This is because monounsaturated fatty acids are more likely to be used to burn off slowly than they are stored as body fat.

I LOVE AVOCADO!

Have a lovely weekend!

2. Avocado can cut the risks of cancer

Because of the high concentration of lutein and carotenoids in this fruit, it can inhibit the production of cancer cells. Avocado can also prevent many diseases associated with inflammation. Many studies have proven that the fruit can significantly reduce the risks of prostate cancer.

3. Avocado can help treat osteoarthritis

Another recent study has shown that avocados can be used to help treat osteoarthritis. The oils that avocado contains, which scientists refer to as unsaponifiable fractions, can do wonders on the joints, muscles, and the bones.

4. Avocado can work against diarrhea and dysentery

More than the fruit itself, the avocado leaves, bark, and its seed, can be turned into a concoction to help treat diarrhea and dysentery. This only goes to show that more than the fruit, the entire avocado tree can do wonders to a person’s health.

5. Avocado can keep the skin and hair healthy

The high content of Vitamin E found in every avocado fruit is sufficient to keep the skin and hair healthy. However, it is also believed that when avocado oil is applied on the skin, it can help treat sclerosis and psoriasis. It can also speed up healing of most types of wounds. As for the hair, avocado pulp can promote hair regrowth.

Embracing Life

September 11, 2014

Hello everyone!
It feels like AGES since we last spoke doesn't it? I'm terribly sorry, but I took a day off Tuesday- I hope you didn't miss me too much!
I'M BACK THOUGH! And today we're going to be having a little chat about the importance of embracing life.

google images

I think sometimes we forget to look around and appreciate the things in our life right now. Sometimes, this can be terribly difficult as we often find ourselves looking back and dwelling on the past or looking forward and worrying about what could be. We have to learn to live in the present.
I'm a person who really appreciates all of those around me and appreciate all the things that are given to me and offered to me. Despite this, I do often worry about letting my loved ones down or even losing my loved ones in the future. I don't do this obsessively, but I will admit that I have wasted hours worrying about things that I have no control over instead of living and enjoying what is happening in the moment.

A lesson for everyone is, no matter what the situation is, there is absolutely no point worrying about it because quite simply, worrying CANNOT change it. The only way to change a situation or make it better is to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.  It's very simple, but very difficult too. It's easy to worry about something and fixate on it, but it's pointless.

Another lesson: Stop waiting for the "perfect" person to come into your life, this again is pointless and a waste of time. You should instead be enjoying those already there who care for you and who love you. If that person is going to come, they'll come.
Don't waste valuable time with those you love, thinking about what could be better or how your time with them could be better.

I would make an image in my head of how something was going to go if it where to go perfectly (What I'd say, what they'd say etc.) and then if when that something came around and didn't go as I planned, I'd be very disappointed (unless it went better!) It's so important to live in the moment and take the situations as they come and perform to YOUR best ability, you can't 100% plan how something will happen.

I've come home angry with myself a few times for not being confident or for not performing to my best abilities. I mean this in ridiculous circumstances, not in a performance or speech etc. I mean in a conversation where I basically don't think I've come across good enough, so end up coming home and beating up about it. This is silly. As I said before, there is NO POINT worrying about it (normally I'm being over anxious too and it hasn't gone half as bad as I think!) all you have to do is work on 'performing' better next time.

I've come to realise that all these little worries or things that I used to think about have stopped me from enjoying the moment. Life is moving terribly quick and it's too short to be wasted on worrying.

The real advice behind this post is: Embrace your life for what it is. You have a unique life to everyone else, so make sure that you live your life to it's full potential. Sometimes, it's hard. Just try.

F4F #17 - Fitness wish list!

September 05, 2014

You guys know that I love a good wish list, so I thought I'd do a F4F edition!
Here are some of the lovely items on my wish list:

1 - PUMA GRAPHIC TANK TOP - I really love the colour of this top- it's so refreshing. It looks to be a top that is well fitted too.

2- GILDA MARX LEGGINGS - I am someone who loves to be just a little unique, so I fell in love with the bright and colourful print on these leggings! Seriously considering the purchase as they're currently at an amazing price!

3. PUMA GRAPHIC SPORTS BRA - I love a pretty sports bra. The print of this one is very different and interesting. I like this sort of shaped sports bra, but have never tried any of puma's.

200 FOLLOWERS & FIRST DAY BACK AT SCHOOL

September 03, 2014

SO LATE ON MONDAY NIGHT I HIT 200 FOLLOWERS! OH MY GOODNESS ME! I CANNOT THANK YOU GUYS ENOUGH FOR BEING SO SUPPORTIVE! Thank YOU!
It was even more special because yesterday was the month anniversary from me hitting 100, so to gain an extra 100+ in a month blows my mind. I am so grateful. Thank you!

So today I went back to school after a brilliant summer. It was strange, but somehow felt like I'd only been off for a week or so. Over the summer I realised how important feeling happy in school is to me, so made the decision this year to try to make decisions that'll make me happier.
It was hard going back in some ways and I didn't have the best day, but it had it's perks. Coming home has given me a chance to reflect and understand where I've been going wrong and has helped me come up with solutions. I've realised that I really have to look at it more positively and to make sure I do things that will make my time in school more positive. This is very important.

I hope that if you've gone back to school or college or uni that you have a happy and positive year. Good luck!

Thanks for reading!

Eve xx

QUOTE OF THE WEEK #1

September 01, 2014

Hi everyone!

It's back to school time so I thought it'd be the perfect time to start a small series called 'QUOTE OF THE WEEK' I'll be doing these every so often when I find a new quote to share.

Today's is:

Google images
This is currently my computer wallpaper. It comes from the brilliant Roald Dahl and it's a quote I'm going to consider in daily life. It's a very positive quote and is simple, although we're often tricked into seeing the worse in situations. From now on, let us try our best to make the best of things.

I'm going to try my best to keep posting as often as I can, I do apologise if I miss a few days.

Have a lovely week.

Take care,
Eve xx
