F4F #20 - Core exercises #1 (100TH POST)

October 31, 2014

WOOW! MY 100TH POST & MY 20TH F4F! Crazy! Thanks for helping me enjoy blogging and making this series SO much fun by supporting it!

Today I am going to be sharing with you three core strengthening exercises. I have decided that I am going to be sharing more core exercises as part of an inner series in F4F in the future too!

What is the core?

Your core is the centre of your body.
Your core muscles can be split into two types of muscles: movers and stabilizers
Movers= The muscles that support the stabilizer muscles and work with them to move your body
Stabilizer= The muscles that are attached directly to the spine and support its movement.

Why is having a strong core important?

Having a strong core can improve your balance and stability, your posture and can even help prevent injury.

The exercises:

NOTE: ENGAGE CORE = suck tummy in.

The simple balancing test.

Raise your arms above your head. Focus on a spot in the room. Engage core and bring one leg (bent) off the floor. Bring it up as high as it can go (this will increase the amount of work your core has to do) and hold for 30 seconds-1 minute. Repeat on the other leg.
To make harder simply close your eyes while doing it (this is quite difficult!)

Cheesy face! :D

Superman / Superwoman.

This is a brilliant core exercise.

Beging on all fours. Engage your core and raise your right leg off the floor and have it reaching as far back as it can. While keeping your right leg out straight, raise your left arm up and have it stretching out as far as it can also.

The trick of the exercise is to ensure that your pelvis is parallel to the floor. Don't let your bum cheek twist to the side as this helps to make the exercise easier.

It's normal to be shaky at first, just keep at it!

Hold for 30 seconds - 1 minute. Repeat with left leg and right arm.

Pelvic floor work / Pelvic bridge.

Begin by lying on your back with your knees bent, pointing upwards. Keep you arms to the side of your body and ensure that you're feet are fairly close to your bum and that your knees aren't flaring outwards. Keep your spine neutral
From that position you need to flatten your back off (back flat to floor) and by engaging your core and tilting pelvis, begin to lift your bum and back off the floor- your neck, shoulders and head should remain on the floor.

Hold that position strongly for 5 counts before dipping to the floor and repeating again. Repeat this five times.

October 30, 2014

Hi everyone,

Today I thought I'd share with you on this Halloween eve my essentials that make my halloween fabulous!
The simple things are the things that keep me happy and these things are very simple, but lead to me having a great time.

1. HOCUS POCUS - This has been my favourite halloween film for ages! It's an absolute classic. If you haven't seen it, make sure you do!
2. A CARVED PUMPKIN - When I think of Halloween this is what I see. It's a must have  (If you can't find one, carve another veggie! Not quite the same though!)
3. HALLOWEENTOWN - A film (series!) I discovered last year and adore! Another must see disney film!
4. SWEETIES - Halloween is a lot to do with the 'candy' and although I don't 'trick or treat' I do like to stock up, so I have something to munch on while watching my movies!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVE!

D.I.Y - Quick & easy halloween decoration!

October 28, 2014

Today I wanted to share with you a really quick and easy halloween d.i.y decoration. It is really simple to create and only requires a few materials.
If you end up giving it a go send me a photo via twitter - @haiaeve

Let's get on with it...

YOU WILL NEED

  • Nylon Cord/string/ribbon
  • A pen (I used a black fine liner)
  • Scissors
  • Sellotape
  • Paper

Let's get started...

  1. Firstly, you need to decide on your halloween design. I decided to go for ghosts as they're easy to doodle and don't require and colouring if you use plain white paper.
  2. After deciding on the design, you can begin doodling it onto your piece of paper. Make sure you leave space between each doodle as you'll need room to be able to cut around them.

3. Keep doodling until you've done as many as you need (I went for 10!)

3. Now it's time to cut those ghosts out! I decided to leave the outline visible, but if you'd prefer a cleaner look you could always cut inside the line!

4. Once you've cut them all out you then want to line them up as you'd like them to be situated on the string!

5. Next you need to cut the string to the appropriate length (but leave some excess on the ends so that you'll be able to attach it to wherever you decide to hang the decoration)

 6. The FINAL step is to cut a piece of sellotape (I cut small pieces and then cut vertically through the middle to have thin pieces of tape). Stick part of the tape on the top of the ghost and then bend the remainder over the string (ensuring that the tape is attached to the string and finish by sticking the end of the tape to the back of the ghost.
Repeat this step until every ghost is attached to the string.

And there we have it! Super easy & really cool!

 See you next time!

Take care,
Eve xx

Blood red nails - Halloween fave

October 27, 2014

Today I'm sharing with you my current favourite nail varnish and I thought it was appropriate since halloween is coming up very soon and the varnish is the colour of blood.

I purchased the nail varnish in Forever 21 from their love & beauty range for $0.99 in May and I absolutely love it. I have always been looking out for the perfect red and I think I've found it. Brilliant quality product for a fabulous price!

I have put on three coats for amazing colour.

What's your favourite nail varnish colour at the moment?

H! jeans

October 26, 2014

Happy Sunday wonderful people!
Today I wanted to share with you one of my Autumn favourite pieces. Surprise, surprise it's a Henry Holland (H! at Debenhams) piece which I got for a ridiculous price (absolute bargain!) in the Debenhams sale during the summer!

I absolutely love the purple colour and think that the dotty print is really cool. These jeans are very comfy and are very flattering to my body type.

I paired them with a simple striped t-shirt and I think the combination of the two patterns works well.

Check out the H! line at Debenhams : here

Have a lovely day!

the blogger with the beauty range - Zoella Beauty

October 25, 2014

First of all, A MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS AND WELL DONE ZOE! How amazing you've done, and what I love the most is that you're just a normal girl who set up a blog and look where you are today!

So, on Thursday I got a tooth removed, despite not feeling my best, I figured as I was in town (that's where my dentist is) I may as well have a little snoop in Superdrug as I hadn't been in for months! I had two reasons for going in: 1. I needed new dry shampoo and 2. I was desperate to see if my local store stocked Zoella Beauty.

I searched and searched, but couldn't find the range anywhere. So, decided to give up, so I went to the till to buy my dry shampoo (and some Christmas prezzies - yes I'm that organised! ;) ) and there they were, right by the till, Zoella beauty. I gave my mother some puppy eyes and she so kindly let me pick up the makeup bag and I decided that I had to buy the fragranced mist too!

The thing I love the most about Zoella beauty is, it's so Zoe. I mean the packaging just screams 'Zoella'.

Also, the line is pretty affordable, which I think is important.

Now I think it's time to take a closer look at these gems...

I love the makeup bag/ pencil case for a few reasons: 1. The quality- you can tell just by looking at it that it's a well made product, 2. The design- I did love the guinea pig design too, but love the combination of blue and pink in the one I chose, 3. The space- it has just the right amount of space, not too big and not too small.
The bag - see here

I absolutely adore this fragranced mist! First things first, I love the bottle. It's just the right size and is very pretty. The fragrance is absolutely gorgeous, it's so fresh and light. Perfect for day time use. 10 out of 10 - I love it!
Blissful Mistful - see here

So, as you can tell, I love the range. I will definitely be giving more products a go.

D is for Dairy

October 24, 2014

Dairy comes in so many forms: Milk, yogurt, ice cream, cream, butter etc. But what benefits come with it?

The benefits...

Dairy products are linked to improve bone health, it is possible that dairy may reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
Dairy is very important in childhood and adolescence as you're still developing and bone mass is being built.
As well as bones, dairy is very good in aiding strong teeth.
Dairy products are also associated with reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.
It's also possible for dairy to lower the blood pressure of adults.
It is also said that adding three servings of dairy into a nutrient rich, balanced diet may help you to maintain a healthy weight.

I'm loving...

I'm going to be sharing with you a newly discovered favourite of mine. It's a yogurt. First of all, I'm quite a big yogurt fan, but have never been 100% satisfied with the greek/natural yogurts available in supermarkets. That was until I discovered a little beauty from Lidl, yes Lidl, little trusty Lidl. It's called the ERIDANOUS creamy natural yogurt and it's just divine. SO CREAMY and I love it! I cannot recommend the little beauty enough! It's so tasty!

Good Luck if you plan on giving them a go and let me know how they turn out!

Expectations - a piece of advice

October 23, 2014

Having expectations that are too high can lead you getting disappointed.
Of course, it's important to maintain high standards, but setting yourself targets that are 'idealistic' but not realistic isn't. Instead of setting yourself incredibly high standards, be realistic. And if you end up exceeding the realistic standard set, brilliant. Be realistic and you'll feel a lot better.

Haia Eve - October Wish list

October 21, 2014

Today I'm doing another wish list. I love this time of the year for fashion and keeping cosy and this is evident in this month's list.

H! Jumper (see here (debenhams) )- I adore the colour of this jumper. It's so autumnal! I'm in love with the cute bow print and really like the flattering fit of the jumper. Definitely considering purchasing! (£18.00, Debenhams)

Yankee Candle 'November Rain' (see here) - I've heard so much about this candle and am desperate to try it out! I've tried a few candles from the Yankee Candle range and have not been disappointed, plus I love a good cosy scent! (Small, £5.59 reduced, Yankee Candle)

Faith chocolate calf boots (see here (debenhams) ) - For me, a good pair of boots are an Autumn/Winter essential! I think these boots are simply gorgeous- they're a great length, a warm chocolate colour and look really snug! (£89.00 , Debenhams)

What's on your wish list?

Have a lovely day!
Take care,
Eve xx

Work in progress

October 19, 2014

Hi everyone,

There is no style sunday today (there will be one next week instead!). The reason for there being no new exciting post today is that I've been really busy changing the look of the blog. You may notice that not everything is just right yet, but I'm hoping it will be ready in a week or so. I'd hoped to get it done by today, but I hate HTML and getting to grips with it is taking longer than first anticipated!

Have a lovely week,
Eve xx

F4F #19 - me & my trainers

October 17, 2014

I don't know about you lot, but I love a good trainer. They're an essential piece to my shoe collection as I wear them so frequently while exercising during the week.
Before I began exercising so frequently I'd only every owned to pairs of running trainers, both being from the Nike 'dart' range. I won't lie, I really loved them. Sadly, they'd seen finer days and that became evident after wearing them to several different classes a week as they weren't giving me the comfort I needed anymore (plus they were a size too small!) I always thought that the next pair I'd buy would be Nike's again, but they weren't. I was automatically drawn to these Sketchers when I saw them in a shoe shop in NYC. Their amazing bright and funky colours really appealed to me. But, the best thing by far about these trainers is, they are the comfiest trainers I've ever worn.

They are part of the Sketchers memory foam range: see here thus, provide fantastic support for your foot. These trainers are also very flexible providing a great range of movement in the shoe.

Let's have a little look at these beauties:

If I haven't already made it evident, I'd highly recommend having a look at the Sketchers memory foam range!

Have a lovely weekend!
Take care,
Eve xx
