2014 & hopes for 2015 - Haia Eve

December 31, 2014

I cannot believe how close we are to a new year. You can almost touch it.
I wanted to write this post today to reflect on what's been a pretty mad year. I'd also love to share some of my goals and hopes for the new year with you all.

2014

In 2014 I met some wonderful people, some of whom have had a massive influence on my life.

In January I attended my first fitness class in my leisure centre, and as mad as it sounds it changed me. Here I have met some wonderful people, some who have had a big influence on me as a person. I met a lovely girl who is actually a blogger (Jessie from allthingsbeautiful-x.blogspot.co.uk ).
Attending these classes made me happier and grew my confidence so very much.

I spent a weekend before my birthday in March having high tea with some very special people in my life and it truly made me value the little moments.

Also in March, Haia Eve was born. I would never have thought I'd gain 200+ followers or that I would enjoy it as much as I do. I love this little blog.

In May I went to New York with the family. It was an amazing trip. I was lucky enough to watch my first broadway show. On that trip I met Cher Lloyd, Daniel Radcliffe and Ronan Keating.

2014 was the year I took on the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. It was tough in places, but quite honestly it's one of the best things I've done.

In July I had an amazing opportunity to do my work experience in a lovely primary school in England. It was great.

I finally visited the Doctor Who experience in Cardiff - It was absolutely brilliant. And I also went to the national eisteddfod for the first time in my life - arbennig!

I was very fortunate to visit the Harry Potter studios in London in August and it's one of the highlights of my year. It was a trip I'll never forget.

I gained an obsession in Pretty Little Liars and Shakira.

This year has had it's stressful times in terms of work and friendships, but I got through it in the end.

Again this year, I've had brilliant support from my friends, family and all my loved ones. I've changed a lot this year. It could possibly have been my happiest year. Thank you to everyone who's supported me through the tough or even offered me a friendly chat- it means so much! Diolch!
I feel blessed to have so many brilliant influences and role models in my life, you know who you are if you're reading this.

Finally, a massive thanks to all who've supported Haia Eve in any way this year. I couldn't have done it without you. Thank you.

2015
my hopes...

  • To continue to enjoy fitness and maintain a healthy lifestyle
  • To show those dear to me how much I value them
  • To continue to be happy and positive
  • For Haia Eve to continue to grow in 2015.
  • To enjoy
  • To appreciate
  • To learn from life
  • To know that sometimes it's okay to put yourself first
  • To learn to move on from a negative crowd/influence
  • To continue to dance around and listen to music - Ha! Sometimes you need to!
Again, Thanks for everything. I wonder where Haia Eve will be next year?

I would like to wish you all a very happy and healthy new year, full of good memories and positive thoughts.

For the final time in 2014...

THANKS FOR READING!

Take care,

Love,

Eve xx

My 2014 Favourites - Haia Eve

December 30, 2014

I cannot actually believe that I'm writing my 2014 favourites post. This year has flown by and it's been truly remarkable.

This year I've grown to love a few things, so I thought it would be appropriate to put together a little 2014 favourites post for you all.

1. Batiste dark & deep brown dry shampoo. - I started using Batiste (tropical) in 2013 and really loved the product. I have to admit though, I love this one even more. The main reason is that it always makes my hair looks so vibrant and tops on my colour for a clean and 'full of life' look.

2. Daisy by Marc Jacobs. - It was so tough for me to decide on my favourite scent of the year as I've enjoyed a fair few, but at the end of the day it had to be Daisy. I've had so many compliments while wearing this perfume because it smells amazing. It's a scent that isn't overpowering, while still being noticeable.

3. Tangle Teezer. - I wrote a post about this baby. It has been an incredible addition to my haircare routine. It does a perfect job at removing my unwanted tangles.

4. Shakira. - This year I discovered my love for Shakira. I'm sure you all know how much I love her as she's been mentioned on here on numerous occasions, but she's truly amazing. I love her voice, her music and her kind personality.

5. Shakira (the album). - My favourite album of the year! I don't think there is one song on the album that I'm not keen on. Possibly my favourite album of hers.

6. Latin American music. - I've really grown to appreciate the beauty of Latin American music this year. I love music sang in Spanish, it's so beautiful.

7. M&S Sports bra. - I have become a little obsessed with exercise this year and a sports bra is essential for a girl who works out, am I right? No one wants bounce in that area. My M&S sports bra has been amazing! It's super comfortable and holds them very nicely.

8. Pretty Little Liars. - My favourite tellie programme! I have watched every episode so far in about 3/4 months. I find the show incredibly interesting and thrilling to watch, even funny at times! Cannot wait for Season 5B to start in ONE WEEK!!

9. Colgate Max White toothpaste. - Since getting my braces off I've been using this toothpaste. I can't claim it's made my teeth whiter because I can't even remember them before to be honest, but I love the minty flavour and it makes me feel super fresh

10. Bath & Body Works Beautiful Day shower gel. - I love this shower gel because of it's fresh smell. Very nice scent!

11. Bath & Body Works Pink Chiffon body lotion. - I love applying this body lotion on my freshly smooth legs as it leaves them feeling soft and smelling amazing!

12. L'OREAL Elvive shampoos and conditioners. - I have tried a few shampoos and conditioners from the Elvive range this year and have had no trouble whatsoever with them (except I double shampooed once because one shampoo looked completely different to the other shampoo in the range and looked very similar to the conditioner!) This product has been amazing and has left my hair feeling soft & shiny.

13. T-Zone Cleanser. - I wrote a post about this in my early blogging days and it's actually become my most popular post! (What?) This year I decided to take better care of my skin and this product has been great help at removing any dirt  and grease from my t zone.

14. My blog. - This year was the year I created Haia Eve and boy I'm glad I did! I had to feature it in my favourites because I just wanted you to know how grateful I am for the comments, the views and the followers I've gained. It means a lot.

14 favourites for the year 2014!
What are your favourites?

WATCH OUT TOMORROW AS I'LL BE POSTING MY LOOK BACK ON 2014 & MY HOPES FOR THE NEW YEAR!

See you then!

The Soapremes - SOAP & GLORY

December 29, 2014

 Haia guys!

I'm back after a short break from blogging after blogmas! I'm so sad that Christmas is over, but am looking forward to a fresh new year full of exciting new chapters.

I've decided to do a few little posts showing some of the pieces I was lucky to receive for Christmas this year.

I was shocked to open 'The Soapremes' set from my close friend. I absolutely love Soap & Glory and smelly things in general, thus very excited to receive this.

I haven't tried any of the products in the set ever before, so I'm intrigued to see what they're like.

The set includes:

Clean on me (shower gel)
The righteous butter (body butter)
The scrub of your life (body scrub)
Hand food (hand cream)
Heel genius (foot cream)
Cosy socks
A loofa

The packaging in itself is amazing and I'll definitely be re-using this box for something! I'm very excited to start using these products and you can look out for reviews on them in the new year!

What's your favourite Soap & Glory product?

BLOGMAS#22 - Festive Hot Drinks

December 22, 2014

Today I thought I'd share a festive hot chic recipe that I found on BBC Good Food. I love a nice warm drink to accompany me while watching a movie- especially a Christmas movie, thus found it appropriate to share this recipe with you.

PEPPERMINT HOT CHOCOLATE - CLICK HERE TO GO TO WEBSITE

Ingredients
  • 200g bar plain chocolate, broken into chunks
  • 600ml milk
  • 150ml pot single or double cream
  • sugar, to taste
  • 6 peppermint candy canes, to serve
  1. Put the chocolate in a pan with the milk. Gently heat, stirring until all the chocolate has melted. Continue heating until the milk is steaming, then remove from the heat and stir in the cream.
  2. Divide the hot chocolate between 6 mugs, add sugar to taste and hang a candy cane on the edge of each. Pass the mugs round and let everyone stir their hot chocolate with their candy cane – letting as much of the sweet peppermint dissolve as they fancy.

This recipe (and lots more!) can be found at : http://www.bbcgoodfood.com

BLOGMAS#21 - My Favourite Vlogmas 2014

December 21, 2014

My favourite vlogmas of this year has to go to Fleur & Mike (Fleurdevlog) click here to go to channel . I've been watching Fleur for a few years now and it's safe to say that I freaking lover her and Mike. They're so cute and their VLOGS are amazing (especially when Christmassy). This pair have the ability to make me chuckle (when Mike got that HUGE Christmas tree! haha!) and I know watching their vlogmas is 10 minutes or so well spent.

BLOGMAS#20 - CONGRATS CAROLINE AND PASHA! #SCD2014

December 20, 2014

Today marked the end of another brilliant series of Strictly Come Dancing. From the beginning I knew I wanted either Pixie, Frankie or Caroline to win.

And the winner is...CAROLINE!!

I've loved Caroline ever since I was young and she presented TMI with Sam & Mark (oh those were the days!). She seems such a lovely girl, full of energy and joy. She became a beautiful dancer. That show dance of hers gave me goose bumps! A deserving winner!

I'm very, very sad to see the end of another series of SCD, but am terribly excited for the Xmas special with none other than Brucie! :)

Congrats Caroline & Pasha!

BLOGMAS#19 - F4F#23 - Staying healthy at Christmas?

December 19, 2014

Happy Friday everyone!

I AM ON CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS :D ! YAAAAAAAAYY!

Today's post is all about staying "healthy" Christmas time. I'm going to be sharing my top 3 tips on how to avoid over doing it at Christmas and feeling the damage in the new year!

1. Don't over indulge.

Often our eyes are bigger than our stomach. You have to remind yourself to be sensible when it comes to your portion size and the amount of treats you allow yourself. You don't have to eat everything at once, so space it out. In the long run feeling comfortable and nicely full instead of sick to your stomach is a heck of a lot better.

2. Enjoy the treats.

Christmas comes once a year: enjoy it. Don't be too strict on yourself. Enjoy have a few treats here and there. Denying yourself of the treats will just make you feel glum as you watch others diving into the chocolate box. You must make sure you enjoy your Christmas and don't hold regrets for not enjoying. The key is: Don't OVER do it.
Now enjoy. Go on, have a gingerbread man!

3. Keep active.

As tempting as it is, don't spend your whole holiday as a sofa slug. Try to get out and about a bit. Whether that means going for a run, going to the gym or just going for a stroll down town. You'll feel the benefit.

Happy Weekend :)

BLOGMAS#18 - A WEEK TO GO!!??

December 18, 2014

It's Thursday the 18th of December. Next Thursday it's the 25th. No biggie.
But IT IS!!

Christmas is only a week away, therefore the last minute prep begins! The last minute prezzie buying, the last minute decorating, the cleaning, the cooking etc. Despite the stress it may call some, I love it. But, I guess I don't have to do half those jobs, so I enjoy.

The sad thing about Christmas is: You count down to it for months, it comes and, in a flash, it's gone.

I can't lie, I'm terribly excited. It's such a magical time of the year full of joy.

So with only a week to go, treasure these moments of anticipation leading up to the big day. Enjoy the festive spirit and for goodness sake enjoy eating the foods that you only get at Christmas (Mince pie anyone?)

The sad thing is: There's only one week left of Blogmas.

BLOGMAS#13 - D.I.Y PERSONAL GIFT BAGS

December 13, 2014

Hey everyone!

We're officially half way through Blogmas! I cannot believe it!!

Today I'm going to be sharing with you a simple gift bag D.I.Y that shows that just that little more thought went into it.

The end result should be something like this...

Basically, my idea was to add the initial of the person you're giving the gift bag to on the front in sparkles and that's what I did.

Interested in how I made it?

You'll need:

  1. A gift bag - I went for a small plain white one
  2. Glitter (and lots of it!) - used to give the letter a winter wonderland effect!
  3. Plain paper - used to make a stencil
  4. A pencil
  5. Scissors
  6. Glue

Let's do this...

Firstly, using your paper and a pencil draw out the letter you're going to be using in whatever style you'd like. Once you've done cut the letter out without causing too much damage to the paper as that's what you'll be using as a stencil and not the letter you've cut out itself!

To close up any cuts in the paper I used sticky tape. Once you're completely happy with your stencil, place it into position and apply glue onto the space that has been cut out. Be generous with the glue- you want the glitter to stick!

Glitter time! After applying the glue, go mad! Sprinkle that glitter all over the area. Be generous with the glitter!

After leaving it dry and peeling off the stencil you should be left with something like the above!

If you're worried about the glitter coming off, apply a top coat of PVA glue!

There we have it! Make sure you give it a go!

BLOGMAS#7 - A WINTER ESSENTIAL

December 07, 2014

The Nivea Caramel Cream Lip Butter.

Oh my goodness gracious! This is my current essential.

At this time of the year I notice a MASSIVE difference in my lips. They start cracking like there's no tomorrow and it leaves my lips looking...uch.
My solution to this problem is this bad boy.

This product was absolutely raved about last year for it's amazing creamy consistency and for the fact it comes in some lovely flavours.
I picked up the caramel flavour from Superdrug and wasn't left disappointed. It has the most amazing texture and makes your lips feel all good and new.
I normally will apply this twice a day (if I remember) in the morning and before going to bed.

The only major issue I've had with it is the fact I've melted it when I went to the Royal Welsh, so it wasn't even the product's fault. It was mine. And even then the fact that it has melted has made it even creamier (in my opinion) But no I'm not suggesting you try melting it or something! haha!

Brilliant product for a very reasonable price!

BLOGMAS#5 - F4F#22 - How exercise can make you happier

December 05, 2014

I was in a fitness class yesterday after a long and emotionally draining day of school, and I thought to myself: why am I here?

I view myself as a very happy and positive person on the whole, but somehow this last week I haven't been feeling so positive. The strain of revising for exams and also the troubles that friendships bring that have left me quite lonely have been having a bit effect on my mind set. It has been harder to present myself as I normally would and has become a lot easier to have a cry.

Going back to yesterday and that all important question, I'll tell you at the beginning I did consider sneaking out the room to go an sit down contemplating what had gone wrong in whatever tests I had done. I finally came to my senses and made myself stay, reminding myself 'I'd feel better for it'. And I did.

There is something that exercise does for me that makes me feel filled with happiness and appreciation for life. It's my hobby. My enjoyment. It's a way for me to express myself and to release any negative feelings felt in the day by working hard.

Leaving the class, I felt so much better than I had when I had gone in. I felt a sense of release.

Exercise is a truly powerful and beautiful thing. It comes in many different forms; whether you'd prefer to go for a run, go to the gym, swim, go to a fitness class etc. and the benefits that come with it are never ending.

Next time you're feeling down in the dumps or stressed, put on some music and have a boogie. You'll feel better for it.

BLOGMAS#4 - Oh life! (CHRISTMAS EDITION)

December 04, 2014

In today's blogmas I thought I'd share a throwback photo from a Christmas quite a few years back.

It's crazy looking at this photo because I look so flipping young and cute. I just want to squeeze my cheeks.
This is one of those typical Christmas morning 'opening presents snaps' that your parents (mother) make you pose for: 'Wait! Don't open it yet! Let me get my camera!'

Do you have any cute Christmas snaps to share? Tweet them to me @haiaeve if so! I'll be sharing many more of mine in future blogmas posts!
